Flagged Up Returns to Irondale This November at Ruffner Park
After crowning multiple champions back in August, Flagged Up is returning to Irondale for another tournament, with its next event scheduled for November 13th through 15th.
The upcoming Southern Smoke Showdown Invitational marks Flagged Up's second Alabama tournament and another opportunity to bring players, teams and the local flag football community together for a weekend of competition.
With cooler weather expected and new formats coming, there is a lot to look forward to with this tournament.
We got a chance to speak with Josh Holman, CEO and founder of Flagged Up and see what else he has planned.
Which teams are you looking forward to seeing come out?
"I'm looking forward to maybe hosting Mean Machine. Chris Hughes is a legend in the flag football area and to have his power house team to be in my tournament would mean the world."
So far, teams like DaColdest, Trenchstarz, Slayers, and Music City Blaze are expected to make the contest.
What are you bringing to this tournament that wasn't in your first tournament?
"I will be hosting 4-Man and 5-Coed formats for the first time in Bama. With the growing interest in small ball, I'm looking to bring that type of style to Alabama."
Holman is referring to a popular type of flag football format called "small ball", where offenses focus on moving the ball strategically through smaller gains and faster plays with less of a deep risk.
Another Exciting Tournament for the Most Competitive U.S. Region of Flag Football
The Southern Smoke Showdown Invitational tournament continues Flagged Up's involvement in flag football and gives teams from all across Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and other southern states another event to add to the calendar before the end of 2026.
